What is a landing page?

What is a landing page is kicking off my series on Leadpages. Initially, I was going to jump right into Leadpages. After discussing this topic with a few customers I discovered that landing pages are not completely understood.

What is a landing page? In simple terms a web page that you “land” on. (I know obvious, right) A landing page in marketing terms well, that’s a bit different.

In Marketing Terms

Let’s jump into what a landing page in marketing terms. It is a standalone web page entered only from a link provided in a call to action (CTA) from your web page, an email or social media page. The lead would click the link that takes them to a landing page or sales page allowing them to view more information and sign up for your call to action.

Landing Pages are simple and free from distraction. It allows the lead to focus on the information and provides a form to gather information or click through to a purchase page. The only goal for a landing page is to convert visitors into leads or buying customers.

Landing pages come in different forms

Click-Through

Typically used with e-commerce. You know the beautiful pages giving details about why you must own this product or service. Providing you all the information to make an informed buying decision.

Lead Generating Page

Lead generating pages gather information such as name and email address. You will see these used with a lead magnet. The landing page has information about what you are giving to the lead in exchange for their contact information. Lead generating pages are integrated with email marketing tools, such as MailChimp or ConvertKit.
